Kris grew up on a citrus farm in Florida with her mother who was a rancher and father who was a welder on NASA space shuttles, and later a roofer.
She travelled working for environmental NGO’s in South Africa, Nicaragua and Washington DC. While in South Africa she trained in permaculture gardening and created permaculture gardening programs in schools. Eventually, moving to NYC she volunteered at Eagle Street rooftop farm; worked for Ivy Acres Nursery as a plant merchandiser; and for a female construction company in Brooklyn. Kris has been working with A Small Green Space since 2014.
